Submission guidelines

Please note that this open call for abstracts is not part of the Young Talents in Internal Medicine World Contest.
If you wish to submit your case report for the Young Talents contest, please visit www.youngtalents.one.

1. Only original research abstracts are accepted, including observational and experimental studies, meta-analyses, and case series. Abstracts must contain original unpublished material.

2. Abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 PM CEST on April 16, 2026. The MIRCIM Organizing Committee reserves the right to extend the deadline.

3. Abstracts must be submitted in English through the Online Submission System at www.submit.piebm.org.

4. If applicable, the authors should have ensured that the patient consent is obtained before submitting the abstract.

5. Original research (including meta-analyses) should have a standardized format and include the following sections: Background, Patients, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.

6. Case series should follow a standardized format and include the following sections: Background, Case Description, Discussion, and Conclusion.

7. Technical guidelines:

  • Abstracts must not exceed 500 words, plus up to 3 tables, graphs, or images. Titles and section headings do not count toward this limit.
  • Academic titles should be omitted from authors’ names.
  • Affiliations should be provided separately in the following format: Department of XXX, University of YYY, City, Country or ZZZ Hospital, City, Country.
  • Up to 3 keywords may be included.
  • Medical jargon should be avoided.
  • The use of abbreviations should be limited, with preference for those recognized internationally. Abbreviations should be spelled out at first mention except for those commonly used (eg, ECG).
  • Drug names should be written in lowercase using their generic names rather than trade names.
  • The abstract content must remain scientific, objective, and free of promotional material.
8. Patient names, identification numbers, or other identifiable details must not be included. Figures displaying patient faces must be modified to protect anonymity (e.g., eyes covered or blurred).

9. All accepted abstracts will be displayed as digital posters during MIRCIM 2026 and published in the MIRCIM 2026 Book of Abstracts.
Note: Participants are requested to proofread their abstracts carefully to avoid errors before submission and to check for spelling and grammar issues. The abstracts will be published in the form they are submitted.

10. Posters must be prepared based on the submitted abstract and will be displayed electronically (dedicated on-site displays, online).

  • Size: max. 10 MB
  • Ratio: 9:16 (vertically)
  • Resolution: min. 1080 × 1920 px
  • Format: PDF or JPG

11. Each author may submit only 1 abstract as part of their MIRCIM conference registration. Additional submissions will carry a processing cost of €50 per each extra submission.

12. Abstracts are accepted based on their evaluation by MIRCIM reviewers for scientific content and quality of presentation.

13. Authors will be notified via email about their abstract’s acceptance or rejection by April 30, 2026. This deadline may be extended in case of unforeseen circumstances.

14. The acceptance process is completed only after the conference fee is paid.

15. By submitting an abstract, the author agrees to have it published in the MIRCIM 2026 Book of Abstracts. 


Need clarification?

Who can submit an abstract for Call for abstracts?

Any registered MIRCIM participant—either in-person or virtual—may submit an abstract to the Open Call for Abstracts.

Can I submit my work as a student?

Yes. There is no age limit for submitting an abstract to the Open Call for Abstracts. Students are also invited to prepare and submit their research.

Can online participants submit their abstracts?

Yes. Virtual participants can submit their work in the same way as in-person attendees. All accepted abstracts will undergo the same review process and will be displayed during MIRCIM 2026 in Kraków, Poland, and online on the conference website.

Can I submit more than one abstract?

Each author may submit one abstract as part of their MIRCIM conference registration. Additional submissions will carry a processing fee of €50 per extra submission.

 

Can I be a co-author on multiple abstracts?

Yes. You may be listed as a co-author on several abstracts, but you can only serve as the first author for one abstract.

 

Can a co-author submit the same abstract separately?

No. Each abstract should be submitted only once, by one corresponding author on behalf of all co-authors.

What is the deadline for abstract submission?

All abstracts must be submitted via Online Submission System at submit.piebm.org by 11:59 PM CEST on April 16, 2026. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

When will I be notified about acceptance?

Authors will be notified via email about their abstract’s acceptance or rejection no later than April 30, 2026

What if I experience technical difficulties during submission?

Can I submit a case report?

No. Only original research abstracts are accepted, including observational and experimental studies, meta-analyses, and case series.

How will I present my abstract?

All accepted abstracts will be displayed as digital posters onsite during MIRCIM 2026 in Kraków, Poland, and online on the conference website.
Authors attending in person will be asked to be present at their posters during a dedicated time slot.
There will be no separate abstract presentation session.

Will all accepted abstracts be published?

Yes. All accepted abstracts will be published in the MIRCIM 2026 Book of Abstracts and made available online on the conference website.

Do I need to attend the conference to have my abstract included?

At least one author must be registered for MIRCIM 2026 (either in-person or online) for the abstract to be included in the final program and abstract book.

Will there be awards for best abstracts?

Outstanding abstracts may be selected for special recognition or prizes. Details will be announced closer to the conference date.

What happens if I withdraw my abstract?

If you withdraw your abstract before publication, it will not appear in the Book of Abstracts. After publication, withdrawal will no longer be possible.

Is there a fee for submitting an abstract?

One abstract submission is included in the conference registration. Each additional abstract will incur a processing fee of €50.
